The Berlin Senate Commissioner for Integration and Migration

The Counselling Centre for Migrants, which has existed since 1981, and the Welcome Centre Berlin, which was founded in 2016, were merged in April 2021.

People with a history of migration and their relatives continue to receive competent advice on all questions of migration as well as arrival and advancement from a single source. Counselling for refugees and immigrants from the Arab region

Al Muntada supports migrants of Arab descent living in Berlin. Many of them come from Lebanon, Syria and Iraq. The counselling is aimed at people of all ages and takes place in Neukölln.

Al Nadi (Arabic for "the club") has existed since 1979 and is a central contact and advice centre for Arab women from all over Berlin.

The ARRIVO BERLIN training coaching of the Berlin Chamber of Skilled Crafts advises and supports companies and accompanies their trainees with a refugee background during the training period, in particular through the following offers:

Solid economic foundation - with a construction profession

With the ARRIVO BERLIN training initiative, the Senate Department for Integration, Labour and Social Affairs supports model projects for the labour market integration of refugees. The aim of the projects is to familiarize refugees with the skills required for the respective occupational area, to further qualify them, to prepare them for training and to continue to support them during their training.

Since April 2016, the Berufsförderungswerk der Fachgemeinschaft Bau Berlin und Brandenburg gGmbH has been offering vocational preparation measures in the main construction trade for refugees at the Lehrbauhof in Marienfelde. This introduces refugees to the German labour market and prepares them for training in professions in the construction industry. Accompanying German and mathematics lessons in preparation for the subsequent vocational school lessons play a special role here. If successfully completed, the participants are placed in an apprenticeship at the end of the project.

The ARRIVO BERLIN RingPraktikum of TeachCom Edutainment gGmbH brings refugees from non-safe countries of origin into training and work. Refugees with work permits are quickly brought into contact with Berlin companies through internships and are given a professional perspective in Germany. In return, the participating companies are given the opportunity to fill positions with motivated employees. Both interns and companies receive intensive support in order to facilitate integration into everyday working life. The participants learn the necessary technical language through language courses. Curriculum vitae coaching and skills assessment prepare the participants specifically for the respective occupational fields.

In the ARRIVO BERLIN training workshops of the S27, refugees are prepared for vocational training in the skilled trades. A course lasts an average of 16 weeks and comprises three modules:

  • a language course that teaches vocational vocabulary and career information.
  • a workshop course to provide orientation in the various skilled crafts occupational fields
  • specialist courses in Berlin craft guilds, where insights into specific professions can be gained

This is followed by a placement in a craft enterprise. Participation is free of charge and possible at any time. The number of places is limited.
