Familiengericht (Family Court)

What is it?

The Family Court is part of the Local Court. It deals with legal matters involving families. For example, it decides which parent a child will live with and how often the child can see the other parent. The Family Court can also order protective measures if someone is in danger.

What are the authority's responsibilities?

The Family Court decides on matters such as:

child custody
divorce
visitation rights
protection from domestic violence

Who is it for?
