Familiengericht (Family Court)

What is it?

The Familiengericht (Family Court) is part of the Amtsgericht (Local Court). It deals with legal matters involving families. For example, it decides which parent a child will live with and how often the child can see the other parent. The Familiengericht can also order protective measures if someone is in danger.

protection from domestic violence
