Jobcenter

What is that?

The Jobcenter is a public authority. It helps you with questions about citizen's benefit and work. The Jobcenter works together with the Agentur für Arbeit (Employment Agency).

What are the authority's responsibilities?

The Jobcenter will check with you whether you can get financial support. For example:

  • Citizen's benefit
  • One-off benefits

The Jobcenter will help you find a suitable job or apprenticeship. For example:

  • Language courses
  • Further training
  • Job-Turbo (for refugees)

You can apply for many of the services offered by the Jobcenters online.

Who is right here?

You are in the right place if you are not entitled to unemployment benefit. This may be the case if you:

  • have never worked in Germany
  • and your unemployment benefit has ended.

Each district in Berlin has its own Jobcenter. The district in which you live is responsible.
