A Vollmacht (power of attorney) means that you allow another person to handle something on your behalf. This person may then, for example, sign contracts for you, withdraw money from your account, or speak with authorities on your behalf.
Powers of attorney exist both in private life and at work. They are usually written down so that it is clear who is allowed to act in another person’s name.
