The Housing Office is a public authority. It helps people with questions around housing. For example, if you're looking for an affordable home or need help paying your rent.

What are the authority's responsibilities?

The Housing Office has several responsibilities. For example: 

  • Processing applications for a Wohnberechtigungsschein (WBS; certificate of eligibility for subsidised housing) and issuing the certificate
  • Processing applications for Wohngeld (housing benefit) and awarding the benefit
  • Applying for benefits through the Bildungs- und Teilhabepaket (BuT; Education and Participation Package)

Who is it for?

Every district in Berlin has its own Housing Office. You should contact the Housing Office in the district where you are registered.
