When you do a schulische Ausbildung (school-based vocational training), you train for an occupation, such as physiotherapy, childcare, or media design. The training usually lasts 1 to 4 years. You mainly learn at a vocational school and often complete internships at companies or other organizations. You usually do not receive an apprenticeship allowance.
