Lohn (wages) is the money you receive for your work. You usually receive your Lohn every month, paid directly into your bank account. In Germany, the Lohn is not allowed to be lower than the legal Mindestlohn (minimum wage). As of 2026, the Mindestlohn is €13.90 gross per hour. There are certain exceptions, for example, for apprentices and people doing voluntary work.
