An Inobhutnahme (temporary protective custody) is a temporary protective measure taken by the Jugendamt (Youth Welfare Office). It provides a safe place for a child or teenager during an emergency or dangerous situation.
The Jugendamt then assesses the situation, determines what support the child needs, and decides what should happen next.
