A Genossenschaft (cooperative) describes a group of people who work together to achieve a common goal, such as building and managing affordable housing. Members buy shares in the Genossenschaft and have a say in its decisions. When an apartment owned by the Genossenschaft becomes available, members can apply to rent it.
